Katy Sewall has been with KUOW since 2003. In the beginning, she worked with Ross Reynolds on The Conversation. After a long internship, she eventually became the show's interim producer.
Katy's sights were always on Weekday though. She liked the shows format and Steve Scher's style. Through many twists and turns of fortune, she became the show's producer rapidly: About three months after being hired to help the show's production.
Producing Weekday requires a great deal of research, imagination, organization and patience. A sense of humor doesn't hurt. The Weekday team works hard, in and out of the office, believing that the best ideas are out in the world, not in a news room.
Prior to Katy's time at KUOW Public Radio, she wrote advertisements and sketches for KidStar radio, worked as a freelance writer and frequently performed in local theater productions. Though non–fiction writing was her initial focus throughout college, radio was always at the heart.
To keep Weekday sounding fresh, these days Katy spends a lot of time listening to radio — including her extensive collection of Golden Age radio shows. Only The Shadow knows what you'll hear next on Weekday.
